Data We Do Not Collect

JobScope does not collect:

Your identity or account information
Which job listings you view
Your salary offer or years-of-experience inputs
Browsing history or usage analytics
Any data that leaves your device

How It Works Locally

When you open a LinkedIn job page, JobScope reads the job title, company name, and location visible on the page. This information is processed entirely within your browser to look up matching records in a pre-packaged database (bundled inside the extension). Nothing is sent to any server.

The salary database is a pre-processed, aggregated summary of public U.S. Department of Labor records. It contains no personal information — only aggregate statistics (median, percentiles, filing counts) grouped by employer, job title, and state.

Local Storage

JobScope stores the following in chrome.storage.local on your device only:

Years of experience — so you don't have to re-enter it each session. Stored as a single number. Never transmitted anywhere.

Permissions Used

storage — to save your years-of-experience preference locally
scripting — to read job title and company name from the LinkedIn page you have open
tabs — to detect navigation between job listings and clear the badge
Host permission (*.linkedin.com) — required to inject the job extraction script on LinkedIn pages

No network requests are made to any external server by this extension.

Third-Party Data Sources

The salary data bundled in JobScope comes from two public government sources:

U.S. Department of Labor — OFLC LCA Disclosure Data (H-1B filings, public record)
U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — OES National Wage Data

These datasets are public domain and contain no personal information.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be included in the next extension update and the "Last updated" date above will change.
